О проекте

Background

The client is a home furnishing retail showroom in Warsaw, Poland, focusing on mid-range home furniture and soft furnishing combinations. The showroom features bright lighting and a clear circular circulation path, requiring multiple small display groupings within the furniture display area. In early 2019, the client planned to add home chair display points along both sides of the main aisle to present fabric and seating differences without obstructing customer movement.

Requirements and challenges

  • Multiple fabrics requiring grouped display: The client asked us to select suitable models from 40 home chairs on sale and arrange them into retail display groups using several different fabrics, allowing customers to compare texture and visual effect directly.
  • Limited dimensions at circulation nodes: Each display group had to fit within a 1.2-metre square footprint. Chairs could not protrude into the aisle or compromise visual openness under bright lighting.
  • Small batch with fast delivery: The client had a short window for the spring display adjustment and required delivery to Warsaw within approximately three weeks from model confirmation, along with clear fabric care instructions.

Specification and solution

  • 6 selected models for display groups: From the 40 home chairs on sale, we selected 6 models with stable leg structures and clean seat lines, avoiding overly complex forms that would appear crowded in small groupings.
  • 5 fabrics assigned across groups: We allocated 5 fabrics across the display groups, including blended jacquard, plain cotton-linen, PU and short pile. Each group contained 3–4 chairs in the same fabric or a near-tone colour range for straightforward customer comparison.
  • Standard packaging with knockdown capability: As the showroom requires frequent repositioning, all chairs feature detachable legs. Each chair packed in a reinforced carton weighs under 9 kg, allowing staff to move and rearrange displays easily.

Delivery and outcome

  • 6 groups totalling 24 home chairs: Shipped to Warsaw in two batches.
  • Zero transit damage: After unpacking inspection by the client, all 24 chairs showed no fabric scratches, no indentations and no seam splitting. No replacement parts were required.
  • Display passed aisle clearance test: After the client arranged the groups according to the floor plan, the main aisle retained a clear width of 1.4 metres. None of the 6 display points affected fire circulation, and the inspection passed on the first attempt.

Client feedback: The fabric groupings work well for direct comparison; customers sit down to try them unprompted, and staff find repositioning straightforward.
