Background
A professional esports club training base in Seoul completed a training-area upgrade in 2017. The facility houses multiple rows of densely arranged player stations and a separate tactical board discussion zone. The operator required uniform seating for extended training sessions and tactical reviews, while keeping the training space compact, circulation clear, and team colours visible.
Requirements and challenges
- High-density workstation fit: Player stations are closely spaced. Chairs needed to allow easy entry and exit within tight layouts while accommodating different body types through seat-depth adjustment.
- Extended continuous use: Daily training often exceeds 10 hours, requiring stable seat and backrest support to prevent concentrated lower-back and neck fatigue.
- Visual consistency: Chair colours had to match the team's primary colours, with low visual interference in the tactical board area and no high-gloss reflective fabrics.
Specification and solution
- High-back frame with team-colour fabric: High-back gaming chairs were selected, with backrest side wings customised in the team's primary colour. Seat cushions and headrests used dark wear-resistant PU to control reflection.
- Mechanism and armrests adjusted for workstation density: Height-adjustable armrests and synchronised tilt mechanisms were specified. Narrower armrests fit the dense desk layout, allowing players to sit and leave quickly.
- Reduced-caster solution for tactical board area: Chairs around the tactical board were fitted with fixed glides instead of casters, reducing unnecessary movement during reviews and keeping the discussion area orderly.
Delivery and outcome
- Quantity: 36 gaming chairs were delivered, covering 32 player stations and 4 tactical board positions.
- Seat fatigue testing: Under simulated continuous compression of 12 hours per day, seat cushion rebound thickness loss was controlled within 6%, better than the standard training-chair benchmark.
- Circulation improvement: Width occupied by chairs in the workstation area was reduced by approximately 14%. During training, player rotation and coach movement no longer interfered with each other.
Client feedback: After a full day in these chairs, our backs feel less tight, the colours match our jerseys, and the training room looks much more organised.
