Présentation du projet
Background
The store is located in Santiago, Chile, and operates as a retail venue focused on toys and children's products, with high-brightness shelf lighting and a dedicated demonstration aisle. In 2015, the client sought to strengthen the in-store experience for the children's cycling category by arranging a children's bicycle display along one side of the demonstration aisle. The quantity matched the store's in-stock model range, involving a single model only.
Requirements and challenges
- Load-bearing and spacing control: The demonstration aisle had to remain passable for customers. Bicycles were arranged in a row along the aisle, with spacing between units needing to balance visual continuity with ease of access for test rides and handling.
- Compatibility with bright shelf environment: Store lighting was strong. Frames, decals and plastic components could not show noticeable reflection or colour shift under high illumination, and the display condition needed to withstand daily light exposure.
- Floor slip resistance and anti-topple requirements: The aisle floor was hard commercial flooring. Bicycle placement required consideration of kickstand contact area and stability to prevent tipping if touched by customers.
Specification and solution
- Selected the single in-stock children's bicycle model: Configured according to the store's existing SKU count, without stacking multiple models. Display quantity corresponded one-to-one with models actually available for sale.
- Uniform kickstands and grip configuration: All bicycles used the same specification of side kickstand. Grip and saddle colours were matched to frame paintwork, ensuring visual consistency along the aisle.
- On-site spacing determined by demonstration traffic flow: Spacing was set on the basis of one bicycle plus access space on both sides, forming a continuous display line without obstructing aisle passage.
Delivery and outcome
- Delivery completed: From plan confirmation through to on-site arrangement.
- Uniform display spacing of 80 cm per bicycle: Formed a continuous arrangement along the demonstration aisle without occupying additional storage or temporary display areas.
- All bicycles passed incoming appearance inspection: Paintwork, decals and plastic parts showed no noticeable colour deviation or reflection issues under high-illumination conditions.
Client feedback: The aisle is still wide after installation; children can walk up and try the bikes directly, and the display looks neat.
