Background
The project is located in a modern speciality coffee space in Shanghai, where the interior is defined by pale fair-faced concrete, timber veneer and full-height glazing. Interior fit-out began in early 2024, and the operator needed to complete furniture specification for a roughly 90-square-metre seating area before opening. The overall requirement was to match the architectural tone: light, quiet and visually durable.
Requirements and challenges
- High-frequency commercial use: estimated daily footfall of around 600 customers, requiring tables and chairs that withstand frequent movement, leaning and cleaning without loosening or visible surface wear.
- Consistent styling: the space is dominated by pale concrete and timber veneer, so furniture needed to present a consistent light oak and cream finish with minimal colour variance.
- Short delivery window: less than three weeks from final drawing approval to on-site installation, with no significant storage area on site, requiring accurate phased delivery.
Specification and solution
- Light oak table frames with cream tops: selected from our coffee desk chair sets in the light oak and cream combination. Tabletops use high-pressure laminate with rounded edge banding to prevent chipping from daily impact.
- One-piece polymer seat shells: seat pans and backrests are made from modified PP in a uniform cream colour, paired with light oak-toned metal legs for reduced weight and structural stability.
- Six configurations by zone: the window bench area uses narrow two-person tables, the central island uses 600 mm round tables, and the wall-side area uses rectangular four-person tables, reducing circulation pressure from a single repetitive layout.
Delivery and outcome
- Six configurations installed: approximately 48 seats covered, including 12 tables and 48 chairs, all drawn from the 24 combinations in our standard coffee desk chair set range.
- Colour variance within tolerance: the light oak finish and cream seat shells showed no obvious visual mismatch under the shop's natural light, and the installation passed inspection on the first check.
Client feedback: The furniture had almost no odour on arrival, nothing has loosened after two weeks of opening, the colours sit well against the walls and timber finishes, and cleaning staff find the surfaces easy to wipe down.
