Resumen del proyecto
Background
The site is a distribution warehouse on the outskirts of Moscow serving furniture parts distribution. It uses high racking for palletised cartons, with top beam levels at approximately 9 metres. In 2013, after a warehouse expansion, the client needed a batch of accessories compatible with the existing racking system, to secure and identify pallet locations.
Requirements and challenges
- Hole pitch and section compatibility: The accessories had to match the existing upright hole pattern without altering the main structure, so as not to compromise the racking load-bearing system.
- Low-temperature stability: Winter temperatures inside the Moscow warehouse are low. The accessory material had to resist cold embrittlement or deformation.
- Pallet location visibility: High-level locations are difficult to identify from ground level. The accessories had to support simple location signage fixing to reduce search time.
Specification and solution
- One standard accessory product: We supplied the sole warehouse accessory listed on our website, with dimensions confirmed against the client's upright hole pitch. No new tooling was required.
- Cold-rolled steel base with coating: The accessory body is cold-rolled steel with an anti-corrosion coating, providing dimensional stability in low-temperature conditions.
- Used with existing signage: The accessory includes standard mounting holes, allowing the client to attach location number plates without changing existing warehouse procedures.
Delivery and outcome
- 260 pallet locations covered: The first batch covered 260 pallet locations. After full installation, no on-site re-drilling or rework was required.
- Search time reduced by approximately 30%: After location signage was attached, average search time for high-level pickers fell by roughly 30%.
Client feedback: The fit was exact, they have held up through the winter, and locating stock is noticeably faster than before.
