Resumen del proyecto

Background

The project is located in a mixed commercial interior in Istanbul, where three functional zones — front-of-house waiting, staff working and corner rest areas — needed to be resolved on the same floor. By the time of delivery in 2018, the interior fit-out was largely complete, leaving a short window for furniture installation and adjustment. The selected products therefore had to match the existing environment quickly in terms of style, dimensions and maintenance.

Requirements and challenges

  • Consistent but not monotonous: The three zones are connected by circulation routes and needed to be linked by a single colour family, avoiding visual fragmentation between areas.
  • Durability under heavy use: The waiting and staff areas are occupied for long hours daily, so seat surfaces, armrests and tabletops had to offer better abrasion resistance and cleanability than standard office settings.
  • Dimensions suited to compact spaces: The corner rest area sits adjacent to a walkway, meaning furniture dimensions could not obstruct passage while still retaining adequate seat depth.

Specification and solution

  • Combination of 4 stock models: A waiting bench, single waiting chair, small round table and staff work table were configured by zone, avoiding the lead-time risk of custom pieces.
  • Consistent neutral palette throughout: Seat and tabletop surfaces used grey-brown and light beige tones, with dark grey powder-coated metal legs, transitioning naturally with the existing floor and wall finishes.
  • Easy-maintenance surface materials prioritised: Waiting area seating used stain-resistant upholstery, and tabletops used scratch-resistant finishes to support routine wiping and partial replacement by the operator.

Delivery and outcome

  • All 4 models arrived on schedule: Completed without disrupting concurrent fit-out work by other tenants on the floor.
  • Waiting area fitted with 6 seating units and 2 round tables: Accommodating approximately 12 people waiting at peak times, with a further 3 seating units in the corner rest area.
  • Staff area fitted with 4 work tables and 8 work chairs: Tabletops passed on-site load testing, with evenly distributed loads remaining stable above 60 kg per table without deformation.

Client feedback: The installation looked more orderly on site than expected, the colours worked well with the floor and walls, and after a week of use in the staff area nothing needed reworking.
