Resumen del proyecto

Background

The main hall of a modern conference centre in Doha features a large stage and high-contrast architectural lighting, and is used regularly for international conferences, launches and forums. In 2021, the venue operator required an upgrade to the centre-stage lectern area, with the unit expected to remain stable and clean under direct lighting and heavy daily use.

Requirements and challenges

  • Glare control under stage lighting: The stage has complex overhead and side lighting. Standard surfaces tend to reflect or appear washed out, so diffuse reflection on the top and front panels needed to be controlled.
  • Structural stability under high-frequency use: The lectern would be moved and used on stage several times a day. The feet and body joints could not develop looseness or noise.
  • Proportional match with the stage: The centre stage is large. An undersized lectern would lose visual presence, so the unit had to balance proportion with portability.

Specification and solution

  • Selected a raised, reinforced lectern from the 8-model range: A raised lectern was chosen as the base unit, with the top height matched to the depth of the main stage to avoid awkward sightlines under the lighting rig.
  • Low-gloss top surface treatment: For the high-light environment, the top panel received a low-gloss finish to reduce direct glare and overexposure on camera.
  • Internal ballast and concealed cable routing: Fixed ballast positions were added inside the body, and a concealed microphone cable channel was provided to support switching between wireless and wired stage equipment.

Delivery and outcome

  • 1 main-stage lectern was custom-reinforced and installed on the centre axis of the stage, without adding a non-standard model to the range.
  • On-site installation and lighting adjustment was completed in coordination with the stage lighting team to confirm reflection angles.
  • 5 consecutive days of rehearsal testing showed no visible body movement, and the top surface produced no bright spots affecting camera work under direct light.

Client feedback: the lectern sits in proportion on the stage, the lighting does not cause glare, and it remained tight after several days of continuous use.
