Space and budget planning should start with your actual spraying day. If you cover less than half a hectare per session, a 16 liter manual knapsack sprayer is enough. If you run a crew through orchards for six hours, two or three 20 liter units with interchangeable wands and a common seal kit will cost less over three years than one gasoline engine high pressure agricultural sprayer that sits idle for small spot jobs. The engine powered sprayer earns its keep on trellised crops, large greenhouses, or perimeter weed control where hose length and vertical throw reduce ladder work. But it brings fuel mixing, vibration, and exhaust maintenance into your weekly routine. Many growers keep one engine unit for the big tasks and several manual sprayers for daily spot work. When you compare sprayers, ask for the wall thickness in millimeters, not just the tank volume. Ask whether the pressure chamber is pre assembled or user serviceable.
