Project overview
Background
In 2020, a high-end business hotel in Foshan entered an operational optimisation phase. Its back-of-house service corridor and separate linen room both have clean tiled floors, and staff make frequent return trips carrying folded linen throughout the day. The hotel sought to replace its existing transport equipment to keep pace with high-frequency, high-volume back-of-house workflows.
Requirements and challenges
- Load capacity and stability: Each trip needed to carry no less than 60 kg of folded linen, with no deformation or wobbling of the trolley frame under full load.
- Floor protection: The service corridor has tiled flooring, so castors had to be low-noise and non-marking, with no risk of scratching during pushing.
- Clearance constraints: The linen room doorway has limited clear width, so the trolley width had to be kept within a range that passes through smoothly.
Specification and solution
- Stainless steel frame: 304 stainless steel was used for the main structure, with reinforced crossbars to withstand daily high-frequency, fully loaded operation.
- Two-tier loading platform: Folded linen can be stacked neatly on both levels, with each tier rated for 30 kg and total capacity matched to the volume moved per trip.
- Low-noise swivel castors: Four quiet swivel castors were fitted, two with brakes, providing smooth pushing without scratching the tiled floor.
Delivery and outcome
- Quantity delivered: Six trolleys were supplied in total, covering the two main work areas: the service corridor and the linen room.
- Efficiency gain: Linen volume moved per trip increased by approximately 35%, reducing daily round trips from around 11 to 7.
Client feedback: They push easily, stay steady when fully loaded, and run quietly over the tiled floor—noticeably easier to handle than what we used before.
