Background
A modern barbershop in Chongqing completed its new fit-out in 2015, featuring black and timber interiors with individual mirror stations. The operator required a heavy-duty barber chair at each station, with appearance consistent with the overall design and build quality suitable for high-frequency commercial use.
Requirements and challenges
- High-frequency commercial load: With significant daily customer throughput, the chairs needed to withstand repeated lifting operations and varied body weights without loosening of structural components or development of noise.
- Hydraulic lift durability: Estimated lift cycles exceed 40 per station per day. Hydraulic pumps and seals had to maintain stability and low settling rates under continuous use.
- Style and spatial fit: Within the black and timber interior, chair colour, metal detailing and proportions relative to each mirror station had to be coordinated without disrupting the overall visual scheme.
Specification and solution
- Selected heavy-duty hydraulic barber chair from 9 in-stock models: Matched a model from the existing range with a stronger load-bearing structure; base and lift column use thickened metal components suited to commercial operating rhythms.
- Chrome metal detailing: Armrests, base ring and exposed lift column sections are chrome-finished, providing a consistent reflective layer that aligns with the mirror stations and black interior.
- Upholstery colour matched per station: Dark wear-resistant leather selected from standard colour options to reduce visible marking from hair dye and cleaning agents, and to simplify daily wiping.
Delivery and outcome
- Delivered 6 heavy-duty hydraulic barber chairs, covering all 6 mirror stations. Installation and levelling completed in 2015.
- On-site continuous lift testing of 50 cycles per chair, with no sticking, abnormal noise or noticeable settling. Lift stroke recovery remained within normal commercial range.
- First inspection passed.
Client feedback: The chairs are stable, the lift operates smoothly, and they remain comfortable through a full working day. They also fit the shop interior well.
